Frequently Asked Questions
What is Community League Day?
Community League Day is an annual city-wide celebration held on the third Saturday in September that brings community and volunteers together to make great things happen in our city. This year Community League Day is on September 21, 2019 and the theme is Get to Know Your Neighbours!
Community Leagues will host free events like:
- Pancake breakfasts
- Classic car shows
- Corn roasts
- Movie nights
CL Day events bring current League members together in Edmonton neighbourhoods while welcoming new members to get involved! Community Leagues are inclusive and open to everyone in your neighbourhood. We hope you will attend and invite a neighbour to go with you to get to know them!
Why should Leagues register their event?
Registering allows the EFCL to promote your league’s event and ensures your league is on the list to receive a Community League Day kit, which will include event supplies, prizes and information to share with your league.
Registration for the Community League Day campaign is open to all leagues for events happening in the month of September.
Register by September 3, 2019 to be eligible to win some fantastic prizes!
Is there a deadline to register an event for Community League Day?
There isn't a deadline to register; however, register by September 3, 2019 to be included in our advertising and promotions and to be eligible to win awesome prizes for your League.
When can I pick-up my league's Community League Day kit?
Community League Day kits will be ready for pick-up starting the week of September 3rd from the EFCL office at 7103 105 Street, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Stay tuned to social media for updates!
How should our League promote Community League Day?
Register your event! If you tell us about your event, we can post it on EFCL.org and make it available to the whole city. We will also be working with media contacts to point every Edmontonian to the local events happening in their own backyard.
Poster and Flyer the Neighbourhood! Make a flyer promoting your local event. If you need to get them printed you can always come to the EFCL office. Post them at local meeting places, on bulletin boards, on lamp posts- wherever the high traffic areas are in the neighbourhood
Door to Door canvassing! Going door to door is the best way to ensure that every neighbour knows about your event. Drop off the CL Day invites included in your CL Day kit! If you are having problems getting into apartment buildings, contact the EFCL. If you are going door to door for your membership drive, tell your canvassers to mention Community League day while they are on the doorsteps!
Word of mouth! Keep September 21st on your meeting agenda and make sure everyone around the soccer field, hockey rink, and coffee shop has the scoop!
