SPICE Solar Pilot Program
The EFCL – Green Leagues has partnered with SPICE, the Solar Power Investment Cooperative of Edmonton, to streamline and fast-track the installation of rooftop solar panels on Community League facilities. This program is specifically tailored for Community Leagues to increase energy efficiency while reducing the League’s operating costs. Register for the pilot here!
As a not-for-profit structured cooperative, SPICE is a community-centered partner that understands the needs of local community groups SPICE will conduct a free feasibility study for your League, so that you’ll have a complete understanding of your energy needs and how much of this can be met by your new solar installation. Following an initial down payment, the remainder of the project is paid back through financing at a rate that is realistic for volunteer-led Leagues and is comparable to the amount the League was paying for utilities prior to the installation. Following the pay-back period, the income generated by your solar system is money in the bank.
Community Leagues that have installed solar systems to their halls have significantly lower utility costs and emissions. With the correct management and a beneficial utility provider, several Community Leagues have been net positive in terms of their electricity costs.
