Grant programs for community leagues
Outside of normal league operational grants which are provided by the City of Edmonton, as not-for-profit groups, community leagues can apply for additional grants through various foundations, governments, businesses, associations and Alberta Lottery.
There are a number of grants available with the bulk being used for special projects which can run the gamut from large capital projects to special cultural or historical projects, and even sport programming develoment within a community.
These grants generally come in one of two forms: matching or non-matching. Matching grants means you must already have the funds to match the amount of funds you are applying for. IE: $10,000 to match a $10,000 grant for a total of a $20,000 project. Non-matching means exactly that - you do not need to have matching funds already in your bank account, but as with the matching grants, you must maintain meticulous records of where the grant money is spent.
In this section, we will be posting information and links to various grants that are available to community leagues. Please make regular visits to this section, as grant information, deadlines and availability change all the time.
