Net Zero Pathways
This project supported by:
The Net Zero Pathways program was developed in 2021 to assist Leagues with upgrading and retrofitting their building infrastructure to increase energy efficiency and decrease operating costs.
In November 2021, Green Leagues received a grant from Alberta Ecotrust to fund five Community Leagues to have in depth energy audits completed for their facilities. The audits were then used to develop a series of plans, based on a number of energy conservation measures and cost scenarios, to help the Leagues get closer to net zero emissions. (*Net zero means the building produces as much energy or more than it consumes).
Green Leagues then assisted these five Leagues with applications for funding from Infrastructure Canada’s Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GICB) program.
Of the five Leagues that originally participated in the program, three have received funding and are now designing and implementing their plans to renew their facilities and significantly decrease their greenhouse gas emissions.

Canora Community League celebrates at their groundbreaking event on October 18, 2025
Applications for the Green and Inclusive Buildings grant are currently closed, but Green Leagues continues to offer this program to assist Leagues in increasing their energy efficiency and decreasing costs through upgrades and retrofits to their facilities.
One-on-one support is always available to all Community Leagues wishing to explore potential energy efficiency upgrades with support for completing grant applications as well.
