Energy Benchmarking Program

The Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL) is happy to present the Energy Benchmarking Program. The EFCL is looking for Community League volunteers to submit their energy bills to begin a city-wide Community League Energy Benchmarking Program. The information shared will only be seen by the EFCL. This will allow us to monitor and provide feedback on your building’s energy use. If we collect enough information, we can compare each hall’s energy consumption to a city-wide Community League average, or benchmark. See how your Community League compares to the rest! If your hall is using a very small amount of energy compared to others, you may be featured in our Sustainability Spotlight series! If it uses a large amount, the Energy Transition Advisor can help you find ways to decrease your energy consumption, save money, and reduce your building emissions.

Some of the many advantages of Energy Benchmarking are:

  • provides objective, reliable information on energy use and the benefits of improvements
  • increases general awareness of energy efficiency among building occupants, which in turn may affect changes in behaviour
  • identifies best practices that can be replicated, either within a building or across a portfolio of buildings
  • establishes reference points for measuring and highlighting good performance
  • helps to develop a comprehensive energy management action plan and build the business case for capital investments (retrofits)
  • leads to savings that will lower energy costs, providing more money for programming and future capital investments
