Finances and Funding

While it is the responsibility of all board members to be up to date on their League’s finances, some board roles have additional responsibilities regarding finances: treasurer, bookkeeper, casino and president. *Your league may or may not have all these roles in your bylaws.

When it comes to managing Community League finances, there are lots of responsibilities – from monthly reports to an annual budget. But when it comes down to the accountability, that lies with all board members.

Heritage Awareness Grants The Government of Alberta’s Heritage Awareness Grants support public engagement projects that preserve, interpret, promote, or raise awareness of Alberta’s history and heritage.

  • General Eligibility: Applications are open to registered non-profit organizations, corporations, religious institutions, educational institutions, municipalities, and First Nations and Métis Settlements.
  • Maximum Funding: Up to $25,000 per project, covering up to 50% of eligible expenses.
  • Deadline: February 1, 2026

Canadian Tire Jumpstart CharitiesCommunity Development Grants The Jumpstart Community Development Grants provide funding to organizations to deliver inclusive sport and recreation programs for children and youth from financially disadvantaged backgrounds and youth with disabilities.

  • General Eligibility: To be eligible for funding, organizations must be a qualified done as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Maximum Funding: Not specified.
  • Deadline: February 6, 2026
Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program Grant – Deadline February 18, 20262026-01-16T12:15:48-07:00

Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program Events Component The Events Component of the Government of Canada’s Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program supports community-based public events that promote intercultural or interfaith understanding and celebrate community history or culture.

  • General Eligibility: Applications are open to registered non-profit organizations, municipalities, and Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Maximum Funding: Up to $100,000 per fiscal year. For recurring events, a maximum of $200,000 per recipient can be requested across two fiscal years.
  • Deadline: February 18, 2026
