Win $1000 for your League with the EFCL Membership Drive Challenge!
We know you do a lot for your community. From putting on weekly programs to maintaining places for people to gather, hosting events to informing your neighbours, Community Leagues are at the heart of everything great about Edmonton neighbourhoods.
Sometimes, though, we can be so focused on doing great things for our community, that we forget that we need to do great things for our League, too. Of all the ways you can spend your time, maybe the most important thing you can do for your League is sign up members.
So, to help spread the word about the importance of membership, and encourage everyone to sign up some new members, we’re pleased to announce the EFCL’s 2025 Membership Drive Challenge. It’s simple, really: the League that increases its membership numbers by the most in the month of September wins $1000 from our friends at Lloyd Sadd.
HOW IT WORKS
- Sell as many memberships as you can in the month of September.*
You can sell them any way you want: at your Community League Day event, online, at your weekly programs, go door to door —- whatever works!
- We’ll count the Communal numbers.
Be sure to enter all your physical membership card sales into your Communal platform! Not only does it open up a whole variety of ways to reach out and organize your members, but those are the numbers we’ll be using to decide the winner. (If you have a list of 20 or more, you can put them into a spreadsheet and Communal will even upload them for you!)
- Winners will be announced October 14!
It’s just that easy!
*Winners will be determined based on largest percentage increase in total memberships, as determined by number of members on the final day of September 2024 versus the number of members on the final day of September 2025.

WHY DO IT?
It’s not just about the numbers (although those certainly help, from everything from funding requests to speaking with city officials).
It’s about deepening connections within your community. Almost everyone takes part in a Community League event or amenity at some point — but a Community League member is someone with a real investment in the League, literally and figuratively.
From the League’s perspective, a membership gives you the ability to reach out to them, to find out what they want and need, to call on them for help, and to maintain and even strengthen your League when the time comes for you to move on. We’ve seen it time and time again: today’s member is tomorrow’s trusted volunteer, and next year’s president (or membership director).
