Welcome City Builders

Welcome to the vibrant and growing team of citizens participating in Leagues and community building across Edmonton. Whether you’re already involved, would like to know more about your Community League, or have a specific question about planning and development near you, this is the right place. We believe that no matter where you come from your participation in local governance and community organizing makes you a vital resource, capacity builder and advocate.

As a federation, it’s our first priority to connect you with your League, discover the assets, tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities on your block and in your community. Join the volunteers building rich, engaging, inclusive and generous communities through planning, design and development.

Planning and Development at the EFCL

The EFCL and our team of advisors are committed to building community by engaging Leagues and working alongside local leaders to build capacity and create partnerships for positive change. We believe that through advocacy, information sharing and direct support, Community Leagues can engage with residents in their Leagues to do incredible things.

For more than 100 years, the EFCL has championed collaboration, participation and League leadership. We build on and strengthen that legacy by working closely with Leagues to create a welcoming environment for education and participation, and a system where empowered communities collectively shape the future.

Individual Support
We are here to work with you and your league to navigate the sometimes complicated world of planning and development and to provide clarity surrounding the role of the Community League in the planning process. The EFCL’s Community Planning Advisor is available to provide guidance and advice on planning and development in your neighbourhood.

Community Planning And Sustainability Working Group
We’re building a new group.

Community Leagues are local democratic institutions with a long history of working to improve wellbeing at the local level. Building on this history, the EFCL is creating a new working group that will look at community led urban planning and take leadership on climate action.

EFCL hopes this committee can think globally, act locally, and catalyze a community based response to some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing our city today. All applicants and nominees must be a member of a Community League.

Applications consist of two parts: an application filled out by an individual and a nomination from the Community League.
