Congratulations to Idylwylde Community League on their brand-new solar system! As the very first League to participate in the EFCL’s SPICE Pilot Program, Idylwylde is proving that community hubs are the perfect leaders for Edmonton’s energy transition. The impressive rooftop system, featuring bifacial panels installed by Inferno Solar, represents the power of the cooperative model. By working together, Leagues, the EFCL, and SPICE are making a “just transition” a reality for our neighborhoods.
The SPICE partnership allows Community Leagues to get on the green grid immediately with no technical expertise and zero upfront funding. Leagues essentially pay for the financing using the monthly savings generated by the system. Once the term is complete, the League realizes significant long-term energy savings that can be redirected back into local programming and events.
This model is a win for everyone involved. Community members can participate as investors to see a small financial return, while the City of Edmonton moves closer to the greenhouse gas reduction goals outlined in the City Plan. It is a powerful example of local ownership and mindfulness in action.
“Thank you so much. This really was a seamless project on our end and your efforts are much appreciated”. ~ Idylwylde Community League
