The rubber officially met the road, and the results are in! The highly anticipated 2026 Bike Month Challenge has wrapped, concluding a high-octane month that saw residents take to the streets, pathways, and river valley trails to put up record numbers. What began as an annual friendly neighborhood rivalry quickly transformed into a city-wide celebration of community spirit, active living, and sustainable transit.
On July 3, participants, organizers, and cycling enthusiasts gathered at United Sport & Cycle for the official Wrap-Up Party to toast the collective achievement and hand out the well-earned hardware.
This year’s challenge used a ticket-based lottery system to level the playing field, ensuring that Leagues of all sizes had a fair shot at the grand prizes. In the Total Participants Category, Wîhkwêntôwin Community League emerged as the winner. Leagues earned draw entries based on recruitment milestones, where having two to fifty participants secured one ticket and Leagues that crossed the fifty one-plus rider threshold earned two tickets. Wîhkwêntôwin captured the draw and walked away with a $500 gift certificate, courtesy of United Sport and Cycle.
The Strathearn Community League took top honors in the Total Team Kilometres Category. Distance milestones dictated the odds in this one, with one to 999 kilometers earning one ticket and the 1,000-plus kilometer milestone unlocking two, leading to Strathearn’s name being pulled to secure their own $500 gift certificate.
For the Scavenger Hunt, Venkat Kiran Bandi was named the Individual/Family Winner after spending the month exploring the city’s hidden gems and documenting the journey on Instagram by tagging @theefcl with the #efclbikemonth hashtag, taking home a beautifully curated local prize basket, courtesy of
While the draw system gave every league a fighting chance, the cycling dedication and prowess of one League cannot go unmentioned. A massive honorable mention shout-out goes to the Hazeldean Community League, for logging the highest number of comprehensive kilometres. Their powerhouse team of 194 participants combined for an astounding 13,596 kms over the course of the competition.
