I agree this is one of the most important roles Leagues can play. I'm committed to determining what else outside of the new by-law that Leagues need from the City to make this happen.

Community Leagues have long advocated for a new relationship with the City and Edmonton Federation of Community League to ensure that they can meet the needs of the communities they serve in a sustainable manner. I support the recent changes to the Tripartite Agreement that provides greater flexibility and agency to Community Leagues, but believe that we need to go further to empower Community Leagues and allow them to address the needs of their communities. As more Community Leagues move towards renovating or constructing new halls and park amenities, it is important that the City encourages and supports efforts to reimagine both the role of Community Leagues and the space they provide to residents. The City should prioritize the redevelopment of sites that embrace the Community Hub model and work with Community Leagues to identify funding opportunities to ensure that these plans can be realized.

Partner with others organizations like seniors groups and others. We can’t have the buildings empty and the volunteers time for to waste.

The pandemic has showed us that Community Leagues/hubs are imperative to assisting with offering services so we can move things out faster and helping with mental health - where people feel they have a resource that is close to home. Again, another one on my "get it done quickly" list.

I think the city can reduce the bureaucratic red tape in order to to help speedup the process. However, I need to know more details before suggesting appropriate answers to this question.

This is especially important as we know our community leagues are made up of volunteer members wanting to give their time to create better neighbourhoods.
