Growing and Gardening Projects

Seed Sharing and Garden Presentations

Seed Sharing and Garden Presentations

We help facilitate seed sharing throughout Edmonton’s communities by offering Seed Sharing Kits and gardening presentations to Leagues.

LongTrees Project

LongTrees Project

Bring your neighbourhood together and plant a community LongTree. Green Leagues partnered with the LongTree Society to help plant and grow “Thousand Year Trees” around Edmonton. Planted with care and the potential to survive for a thousand years, these trees represent our shared hope for a brighter and greener future for generations to come.

Climate Resilience Hubs

Climate Resilience Hubs

Climate Resilience Hubs

The Climate Resilience Hub pilot project will explore the potential for League facilities to act as hubs for residents of their community during times of extreme heat, poor air quality, and extended power outages.

SPICE Solar Pilot Program

SPICE Solar Pilot Program

The EFCL – Green Leagues has partnered with SPICE, the Solar Power Investment Cooperative of Edmonton, to streamline and fast-track the installation of rooftop solar panels on Community League facilities.

Air Quality

Air Quality

Air Quality

Having access to air quality data at a neighbourhood level can be a useful tool for decision making around events and activities taking place at the League.

Indoor Green Shack Program

Indoor Green Shack Program

Every summer, program leaders for the City of Edmonton’s Green Shacks program host games, challenges and activities that are sure to get kids active and having fun! The Indoor Green Shacks program gives children a place to play when the air quality is too poor for outdoor activities.

Bike Month

Bike Month Challenge

Bike Month Challenge

Each year in June, the EFCL organizes a League-wide cycling challenge to encourage Edmontonians to get on their bikes and participate in active transportation while exploring Edmonton and building community. With prizes and a fun scavenger hunt, this is a fantastic event for all Leagues to get involved in! To sign up for June 2026, contact greenleagues@efcl.org.
